What are missed calls costing you?

Most callers don't leave a voicemail — they ring the next business on the list. Pick your trade, adjust the three numbers you know, and see the yearly figure.

Where these numbers come from

The sums are deliberately simple, and every figure is yours to change — the defaults are only a starting point:

calls a week × 52 × miss rate × conversion rate × job value

Default miss rates and job values by trade are drawn from published UK and US industry estimates. They vary a lot by source and by business, so treat them as a sensible opening guess rather than a measurement of your business:

The "won't leave a message" line uses the widely cited estimate that around 80% of callers who reach a voicemail hang up without leaving one, and a majority of those ring a competitor instead. Like most figures in this industry it is quoted far more often than it is sourced, so it is shown for context — it doesn't feed into the total.

What this calculator does not claim. Answering a call isn't the same as winning the job. That's why the headline figure is the revenue at risk, and the green box shows what recovering only half of it looks like. Anyone promising you all of it back is selling something.
